Woo hoo! I'm done with my mid-sem exams! Met up with Ting last Sat right after my exams for a sumptuous dinner and retail therapy in town! Felicia and Joanna joined us for drinks that night at RX's place.

Despite our late night-outs, Ting and I had an early rise the next day for service! We then drove down to Joo Chiat Road for yummy shabu lunch before our visit to the bridal studio for my first bridal fitting...

We bought some desserts from Obolo before we called it a day (to replenish our beauty sleep)...

Being such a busy bee, I had an eventful week filled with deadlines and personal errands to run. Visited the skin centre, my contractor, my soon-to-be renovated home, etc etc...

Here are some photos taken during my official trip to Ho Chi Minh city...

My colleagues and I had breakfast at SQ lounge before boarding. As compared to the long haul flights which I took to visit hubby, the flight to vietnam is so much shorter.

At HCMC, I was very amazed that their airport were sparkling clean and new, close to our Changi Airport's standard!

Our collaborators received us at the airport and chauffeured us around the city.

It's the bikers' territory! Their downtown traffic was horrendous!!!
It was astounding to see so many wired cables in a city's downtown....

The journey to their research farm took us around 2 hours. We stopped over at a village where lunch was served.

Well, I know you will never be convinced by looking at my expression. But still, I have to comment that vietnamese food were really unique and tasty... The guy beside me is the boss of the company. He is such a good host and so fatherly too.....

I was impressed that even the village's toilets were so clean!

We reached the farm shortly after lunch. We got to put on special boots before entering the farm.

Here is the picture of the month. My colleague had such huge legs that required a whole team of helpers to put on the boots for him...

Okay, go ahead and laugh...

The weather was extremely hot and humid!!!!!!!!!!! I was drenched in sweat lor.....

To round it up, the trip was very fruitful and exciting. The standard of living in Vietnam was satisfactory and their labour cost is relatively low as compared to other developing countries. Nonetheless, the Vietnamese are generally nice and hardworking!

To my surprise, the unit coordinator for lab section was actually quite a nice old man. He fully understood my situation and even gave me advice on the upcoming practical. Never underestimate the power of prayers! Anyway, I will be leaving for Ho Chi Minh City in a few hours time for my business trip. Apart from this project of mine, some other dormant projects seem to resurrect all at this time. Still need to find time to draft a press release, help out with corporate budget/grant applications, attend to patent matters and do term sheet cum agreements, etc. To make matter worst, I have a new colleague in my office that I’d need to brief. Of course, the amount of work I have given her is sufficient to keep her busy for some time so that I can clear some work before they start piling up.

After my business trip, I’d need to rush back to Singapore to attend an IP Masterclass cum networking session at Intercontinental Hotel the very next day. As the event will be starting as early as 8.30am, I don’t think I will be in the right frame of mind to drive as a result of sleep deprivation. Hence, I have decided to take public transport to work instead. An excuse to give myself and the car a break from the daily peak hour traffic jams. Phew….

Back to school!

I'm finally back to my hectic schooling schedule after my two months of not-so-long term break. Was kinda lost during my first lecture last week. The lecturer told us to MEMORISE all the amino acids information as if they were some gospel truths since amino acids are the basic language of Biochemistry. I'm beginning to feel like a scientist; at least a biologist by training.

In addition, the debrief regarding my module and strict lab rules really threw me off the cliff! We were told (again and again) that all lab sessions for this module in particular, were compulsory. This sounds bad.

The reason is because I'll be away for business trip on one of the lab session and was hoping that my lecturer could let me off for that particular lab. Unfortunately, things ain't looking good as I was told by my lecturer that the university don't usually give exceptions since every experiments are of equal importance. Moreover, they have never allowed any students to miss lab over in Perth. She advised me to check with my unit coordinator (whom seem to be a very difficult man). I'm so damn worried as my air ticket has already been booked and my collaborator-to-be is in the midst of planning the programme. How how how??? I need my Lord's grace and mercy... *praying hard*

There's nothing much I can do too. Shall leave everything in His good hands. Anyway, here are some post-dated photos to share:

SWING KPE RUN!!! (14 September 2008)

Due to the F1 Grand Prix, the road closures around Marina center resulted in several major traffic jams everywhere! I spent at least 1.5 hours on the road (snailed from BKE all the way to NUS) to reach office in the morning.

In the evening, it was another 2 solid hours of snailing from westcoast highway to Bugis! The traffic was really bad. Arrived at bugis around 8pm and had steamboat session with Ellen, Ying Ying, Dora, Weiliang, Yi Yan and Hai Hwee at Xian De Lai. This restaurant have quite a wide selection of food and the whole level 2 were filled with our laughters...

Participated in the SWING KPE 10km Run with Ruwei, Weiliang and Hai Hwee on 14 September 2008 (Sun) . It was a great achievement for me as I completed it in 1 hr 29 minutes, considering it as a breakthrough for myself. It is unfortunate that Shuk Fern, Kharil, Meng Huat and Henry were unable to make it last minute.

Had dinner with Ting and Siyan at Orchard last Friday. It was supposed to be a happy shopping cum dinner for us. Unfortunately, it became a consoling session for Ting as she got to find out that her man seemed to have befriended a PRC woman from the nightclub. It was extremely depressing even though she tried to give her man the benefit of doubt.

We later proceeded to boat quay and had 3 bottles of red wine! Of course, I drank very minimum since I was the chauffeur for the night. Accompanied Ting till 6am in the morning......

So, who says a woman needs a man?

Road Trip Part 6 - Grand Canyon, Arizona

Left Las Vegas and made our way to Hoover Dam...
It was a scenic drive ....
After ~3 hours of drive, we finally arrived at Hoover Dam, Arizona!
There were some ongoing construction, hence we just had a few quick shots of Hoover Dam...Super hot and scorching day...Proceed on with our journey to the magnificent Grand Canyon...

Grand Canyon - One of the Earth's most powerful, inspiring landscapes. It's rugged landscape hosts a fascinating variety of plant and animal communities, from the desert next to the Colorado River deep in the canyon to montane forests atop its North Rim.

North Rim is opened mid-May to mid-Oct as winter snow closes North Rim and blankets the South Rim.

South Rim elevation is 7,000 feet (2,100 m), with temperature in the 10 to 30 degree celsius in summer and -7 to 10 degree celsius in winter.

Grand Canyon reveals a beautiful sequence of rock layers that serve as windows into time. The carving of the canyon is only the most recent chapter, a geologic blink of an eye, in a long story. That long story includes rock nearly 2 billion years old in the bottom of the canyon, land masses colliding and drifting apart, mountains forming and eroding away, sea levels rising and falling, and relentless forces of moving water. @ the South Rim. It was a spectacular sight...

Several factors make Grand Canyon's geology remarkable. Many canyons form as rivers cascade among mountain peaks, but Grand Canyon sits incised into an elevated plateau. The desert landscape exposes the geology to view. It is not hidden under a cloak of vegetation. The strata revealed preserve a lengthy, although incomplete, record of Earth's history.

Left the hotel around 8am the very next day. Stop by Phoenix for lunch before heading home in Tucson! Was busy packing my stuffs at hubby's apartment until late noon when I accompanied hubby for car wash and a nice dinner at Miss Saigon (a vietnamese restaurant). Spent the remaining night doing some final pack-up, replied a couple more of emails and had some small talks...

Road Trip Part 5 - Las Vegas

Had an early rise and got ready to set off for Las Vegas!
It was a super long drive from Fresno to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Arrived at Nevada state, approaching Las Vegas Boulevard.... First thing that afternoon - S H O P P I N G !

The weather at LV was contrary to the weather at California... As LV was situated in the midst of a dessert, it was extremely dry and hot... The temperature was around 36-38 degree celsius...

There were loads of famous and delicious Asian cuisine at Chinatown, LV. We had Korean BBQ for dinner! Simply yummy....

We chanced upon this shoe shop that was having its last day clearance sale - It was in total mess and hubby managed to ransack the store for a pair of Diesel leather shoe. He bought it for just USD20!!! At Las Vegas, there were several prestigious hotels located along the famous street - The Strip. Each hotel has its own casino, theme and shows... Moreover, they have an excellent policy for all visitors to enjoyed complimentary drinks (beers, cocktails, wines, mocktails, etc) for as long as they gamble in their casinos! heee...

Spent our afternoon at the Fashion Show Mall. They held regular fashion shows here...
Caught the "American Superstar" show - The best celebrity impersonators show. Saw Elvis, Tim McGraw, Christina Aguilera and Rod Stewart! It's a show so glittering and charismatic that the Las Vegas Advisor called it the "best entertainment value in all of Las Vegas." Chill-out @ Hard Rock Cafe!
Day 4 - We had lunch at Ah Zhong Mian Sian again!

Road Trip part 4 - Yosemite + Fresno

Yosemite was one of the places that was strongly recommended by hubby's colleagues. Despite our previous late night of packing, we managed to have an early rise and were all ready to set off for Yosemite National Park!
Ingenious windmills could be seen working along the highway on the hilltop...
As we were approaching Yosemite, tall and beautiful pine trees could be seen....

Arrived at Yosemite National Park!

The journey to Yosemite was not easy at all! There were lots of narrow mountainous roads without safety blockage (or bushes) on the side. Just one slip or mishap, any car could fall deep into the valleys... >_<" After hours of fearful drive, it's finally rest time....

As the park is around 5000 feet elevation, there were frequent fire outbreaks in the park due to lightning! The forest fires were all part of nature!

Everyone can fly, but only the best can soar....

Left Yosemite and travelled down to Fresno, another city of California. It was a long day of driving before we finally checked-in at Radisson Hotel...

Fresno is basically a retirement city of USA. Even the streets of its downtown did not have a single soul...

Thank God, we found a nice japanese restaurant owned by a Japanese family... They served really delicious and authentic jap cuisine...

Road Trip part 3 - San Francisco!

Although the whole trip was indeed fun and gratifying, this part of our tour was the most memorable and enjoyable one! We stay in a boutique hotel within Union square and had a room that was newly renovated with warm colors and modern carpentry. The weather was absolutely amazing and shopping was satisfying!

Fortunately and unfortunately, we encountered sewage leakage on the day which we woke up late. It was a tragic. Thank God, we were still in the room preparing to go out. The BROWN "water" exploded from the ceiling in full force above the walkway to the door!!! Our luggage and clothes were stained and my birkenstock and wedges were soaked! It was extremely depressing and I was on the verge of crying. However, the manager was expeditious in resolving this matter. He shifted us to an executive suite at high level, sent all our dirty clothes for express laundry services (absorbed the cost of over USD300!), compensated us with new and more expensive luggage and waived our accomodation charges for all four nights. Moreover, hubby will be receiving a cheque of USD1000 from the hotel's insurance company for compensating his lappie which is "so-called", "affected" by the sewage leakage... What a blessing...

Nevertheless, San Francisco is my favourite city in USA because it really has very nice weather and food!!! I love SF!!!! We will definitely go back again!

While hubby was driving with undivided attention, I was watching taiwan drama serials on my portable DVD and cattles were having their meals.....
After several hours of driving, we finally reached the MYSTERY SPOT!!!

Road Trip part 2 - Los Angeles

Hubby and I left San Diego and drove further up to Los Angeles. The highway traffic approaching LA was heavy and less "friendly".

I didn't bring any winter clothings as I thought this was an absolute summer holiday. However, after exposing ourselves to the cool weather in San Diego, I reckoned that the little cardigen which I brought from home would not be sufficient for my stay in San Francisco. Hence, I decided to shop for a jacket!

Western USA holiday! (Road trip part 1 - San Diego)

Yoz! I'm back from my summer holiday!!

The sightseeing and shopping in USA were simply FABULOUS!!! We visited the reowned wonders of the world as well as their outlet malls of considerable size.

Hubby & I really enjoyed ourselves and spent quality time together. I'm very appreciative of hubby's effort in the planning of this successful holiday. Our road trip covered San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Yosemite, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Phoenix and back to Tucson.

We took around a thousand over photos and shall share our experience by parts. As such, this entry shall cover only San Diego.

On my way to boarding @ Changi Airport Terminal 3...Reached Narita Airport, Tokyo after 6 hours plus of flight and promptly searched their restrooms for this clever machine. Extremely ecstatic to see shopping opportunity at Tokyo airport. Bought an eye color from Shiseido! *yay yay* The journey from Narita to LA and from LA to Tucson was long and weary. Reached Tucson around 10pm. Did some window shopping at Walmart and we had burgers for supper.

The following morning, we loaded our luggage onto the car and were ready to set off for our road trip!!!

Siloso beach outing & NDP' 08 Preview!

Beach-out with Michelle, Jessie, Rodney, Ivan, Franco, Qi Peng & Suwee at siloso... It was an extremely SUNNY day & we managed to find ourselves a good spot at the beach since we were one of the few early groups...

It was very unfortunate that my car met an accident yesterday morning while I was on my way to work. Of course, I couldn't believe it when I heard the "donk" sound since it was only the fifteen day our new car was born. My heart bled then.

The best thing was, the stupid blur like sotong auntie's attitude was annoyingly poor, not realising her fault. Look, her damn car bumped onto me from behind when I was almost stationary and her speed was like 10km/hr as the traffic was real heavy. Tell me, whose fault would that be? I'm confident that I have a case here. Despite her atrocious actions, I tried to portray that godly character and conversed to her calmly. Therefore, I took down all the necessary details and continue my journey to work and raced down to Defu during lunch in order to report this case within the mandated 24 hours.

The hassle of making claims and hitting the workship was really cumbersome and I couldn't comprehend the reason why my lord wanted me to go through these! However, after realising how minor this accident was, I came to understand that it was an experience that my lord wanted me to go through so that I could be more independent in future.

There was once when a senior shared with me on the true meaning of love...
Well, let's talk about it...

Love, is not simply expressed by looking deep into each other's eyes and telling the person - "I love you". Anyone who is not committed to a relationship could easily feign a pretentious message without much effort.

The truth is, love is best narrated when that two persons are having the same vision, looking at the same direction and moving together towards the same goal. When one falls, the other helps pick up the spirit of the discouraged. Not leaving anyone behind. This is the real meaning behind it.

With that, the couple is confident and is able to overcome any challenges that were to entrench before them.

I just realised that I haven't been blogging for > a month!

June was an extremely busy month for me. Was occupied with work (as usual) and preparation for exams. Hubby was back around mid-June and that was also the day I cleared my papers.

Hubby's trip to Singapore was no holiday for him (and me), but it was certainly fruitful. We spent some days at our interior designer's shop finalising kitchen/toilet accessories, paint, tiles, carpentry works, etc. We have also selected our banquet venue!

By God's grace, we have bought a new car! Unfortunately, my insurance premium was higher than average because of age and that NCD thingy. But, this shows that I'm still at a youthful age! (^_^)

Hubby is now back in the States and I'll be meeting him soon for our western USA holiday this August!

Nonetheless, here are some flashback of hubby's stay in Singapore....

Having survived my four years of working life, I was challenged to face difficult situations and had been murdered in a way by trusted people. I guess I've grown up remembering the pain. As far as I'm concern, these painful lessons only serve to make me wiser despite the damages done.

The truth is, there are always some groups of hypocritical people who enjoy communicating with others furtively to fish out information and peppered these juicy news before dishing out to selective audiences. Of course, there is bound to be a group of idoits who chose to dumbly trust the words fed by such. The thought irritates me beyond all reasons.

The fact that these idoits believed such hypocritical freaks and their amazing spin-off stories having no basis whatsoever, merely showcased how mediocre the trust shared in a relationship.

It has been a while since I enjoyed such carefree weekends. For the past few weeks, my weekends were burnt with loads of assignments and mugging for exams. This week however, I had an eventful weekend! The afternoons of both my Saturday and Sunday were spent shopping in town! Ruwei and I met up after my class on Saturday and bought a gift from Mont Blanc for our boss's birthday. ^_^
Afterwhich, I met up with April and Pearline for dinner at that O cafe. Suppose to have KTV at Chinatown but caught a comedy instead as I was having a bad flu....

PS: You should be able to tell that my chest area is indeed badly burnt from that beach outing.

Froggy is back in Singapore! We did some shopping with daddy & mummy at Raffles City and Paragon! weeee.....

Spent a warm sunny afternoon at siloso beach last thursday.
I tried to avoid the scorching sun by reading under the coconut trees at mid-noon. It was only around 4pm when I attempted the beach volleyball game. Apparently, it wasn't of much help though. The best thing was, I forgot to apply sunblock on my chest area (-_-") and I was painfully burnt to the extent of "medium done". >_<" me resting on the hammock...pure luxury of relaxation by lazying around and glazing at the blue waters....

I received my official promotion this month. The annual increment was again, a breakthrough! The good increment was notably rewarding and motivating. (^__^)v

This is the last month to fulfill my pledge for the church building fund. In this regard, I have given my all and God is definitely faithful to His promises.

Come to think about the Mol Bio exams which I took last evening, the paper was damn sucky. With the amount of effort I've put in, it is only fair that I didn't really perform.

Looking at our leader despairingly now, I can only pray for God's grace to fall upon him and that his decisions will not be influenced by the hidden agenda of "that someone".

Finally, I have survived my three weeks of back-to-back "marathon" lectures and I'm exceedingly glad that it is over, at least for now. Sometimes, I wonder how our pasters have the capacity and concentration to do so many stuffs at any one time and they are able to excel in the things that they do! It's so amazing! With lots of new challenges at work and my impending examinations, I really need to ask God for a greater capacity.

According to the news, SQ have been cancelling its direct flight to USA. Initially, I was concerned that my reserved flight to LA would be affected as I was told that it is likely that my return flight from LA to Singapore may be affected. This is definitely no joke especially if it were to happened when you are away from home. As a consequence, I have booked an indirect flight with SQ instead. This time round, I will be transiting via Tokyo for both my trips (to & fro) and I'm determined to hunt down that asshole-washing toilet at all cost!

A pot of flowers was delivered to my office one day prior to the actual v-day. It really caught me by surprise as I was actually expecting my guest instead. Thanks Hubby, I appreciate it.

Also, I received a letter of encouragement and belated V-day card from Sufen. Her heartfelt words touched me with tears and I wasn't aware that I've such kindness and patience that could touch her and caused her to look up to me. I'm really glad that my sincerely has made her closer to me which sparked the start of our friendship. She cheers me up with her super crappy jokes whenever I'm bored or upset and chauffeurs me when I really need her to. She promises that she will drop everything and be here for me just like how I have done for her; and this is our promise. =)

It has been a year since hubby left for the states. The melancholiness in my life resulted from the absence of hubby was partially taken off-loaded by my hectic work schedule and studies. Nonetheless, year 2007 has been extremely great and eventful. here's the flashback:-

Jan: struggled with the absence of hubby. Hubby finally got himself a car he favors.
Feb: visited hubby at Tuscon & Phoenix, Arizona, USA!
Mar: hubby sent me a bouquet of flowers on our 1st anniversary!
Apr: received the best increment I've ever had so far!!!
May: my appeal for statistics exemption was successful!
Jun: got saved and it was the dawn of my new life...
Jul: met hubby. visited Orlando & Miami, Florida; Buffalo, New York State; Ontario, Canada; Manhattan, New York City, USA.
Aug: enrolled & started my bible study classes.
Sep: Hubby returned to Singapore for home trip!!!
Oct: fell in love with my work all over again!
Nov: had a mini celebration with my UWA chums for achieving high distinction for our modules!
Dec: Hubby's beloved granny passed away.

What happens outwardly in our lives is not as important as what happens inside us.

As for this year, I yearn to live better.

Life is never predictable

I was strucked with hubby's shocking news while having lunch at vivo yesterday. His grandmother was dangerously ill and in critical condition. Hubby hoped that i could make an urgent trip down to the hospital immediately after i finished my bowl of fish-sliced soup while he arranged for the earliest flight back to Singapore. I hesitated and even tried to negotiate to postpone that trip to evening. However, I later sense the urgency of this matter and hence without further delay, i rushed back to office to wrap up any outstanding work, packed my bag, took the car and zoom-ed off to TTSH.

I met up with my in-laws and his relatives and was told that she had been unconscious for some time. She even seemed to have stopped breathing, but the doctors tried to sustain her life further by providing her with oxygen through some medical equipment. It broke my heart so much the moment i saw her. She did not respond in spite of my several attempts to wake her up. I continued to stood by her bedside, observing her pulse rate and condition.

It was around 6.15pm when i was about to leave, her condition suddenly aggravated and her pulse rate began to fluctuate. I had my phone placed on her ear, praying hard that she could hear hubby's plead to at least hold on till his return. Her pulse rate continued to fluctuated for the next few minutes, gave forth her will to wait but still, she lost the "fight". It was extremely sorrowful and everyone was helplessly tearing in misery. As for hubby, he was struggling in agony over the death of his beloved grandmother and will be back in Singapore to "send" his grandma (for the last time) in 11 hours time.

Nonetheless, grandma's spiritual blessings have just began. I trust that God has been kind enough to have given her the option of leaving in peace without any knowledge of pain and prolonged suffering.

Hubby had my gift prepared well in advance but it will only reach me when he comes back for CNY next year. Meanwhile, he has sweetly sent me a greeting card. ^_^

yeppy! i'm almost done with my list of christmas shopping! with the imminent seasonal promos and sales, i should be able to satisfy myself with more shopping in the next couple of weeks.

well, the frustrating traffic congestions along cte & town have not been effectual in hindering me from landing my feet on orchard ground. *evil grin* through his grace, i managed to find myself a convenient lot at taka and you would have already known - a hungry lady is an angry lady, hence i gave pearline a treat at crystal jade so as to charge ourselves with sufficient glucose to prepare us for retail therapy!

oh! i almost lost my card holder at taka while combing up and down grabbing pressies, scouting for boxes & making payments! i really must thank that taka staff for being so kind enough to return me my card holder! i finally see some hope towards our future generation. =)

we fastened our pace and hurried down to far east plaza, grasping that faint hope for my skirt to be altered. unfortunately, the shop was closed by the time we reached. =(

met up with april & proceeded for our late night movie at ps. caught the movie - fred claus, kind of lamey. but you are strongly encouraged to watch it should you really have the need to shower yourself with christmas mood.

some of our friends & i picked him up from airport (terminal 2, gate 31) on saturday, 1.00am. while waiting, there is hardly any word that could express my mixed emotions of anticipation, missing, etc.. my eyes were searching for the first sight of hubby through the transparent glass door. the moment i caught sight of hubby, i really felt a great sense of comfort and it kind of made me felt as thou my life is back to completeness again.

ever since school term starts, life has been busier than usual. even with a newly-joined colleague taking over part of my portfolio, new job responsibilities have been keeping me on the run. i guess this is what happened when your boss tells you that you are entering another phase of your career. moreover, i've been attempting to kill myself with lots of late nights as i'm overwhelmed with tons of school assignments and reports. *help!* Froggy showed me some emphathy, & i found this "surprise-pressie" on my desk when i came back from school a few hours ago!
this afternoon while working, I was thinking about my convocation & family phototaking. it really surprised me when i returned home to find kuma kuma (graduated) on my desk.. hee.. froggy is so thoughtful. =)

oh.. Ruwei & jessie got me pressies too! hee... i'm getting addicted to receiving pressies....
and i'm reminded to take down notes for my daily quiet time ....

was at the grand finals of "the voice" singing competition last evening.
there were a total of seven finalists & all of them performed very well. jessie's performance was great!
jessie is our superstar!!! although she didn't emerge as the winner, she is already a winner in our hearts becos she plucked up the courage to go forward to participate in this contest!

the last stop for our eastern usa holiday was new york city. hubby's decision for us to stay at manhattan instead of new jersey was indeed a brilliant choice. unfortunately, manhattan wasn't exactly what i had expected it to be and was in fact far below my expectations. thou i hate to comment but the roads & streets were kinda filthy. bags of rubbish could be seen on main streets. thousands of cigarette butts in their drains suggested that the cleaners were either too busy or couldn't be bothered with it. anyway, i guess that's the new-yorker's attitude.

moreover, the traffic condition was absolutely absurd - we could hear vehicles horning away at every 5 minutes intervals. likewise, jams & congestions were normal daily sights. it was really that bad. during the day, busy business people can be seen munching burger on one hand & reading documents on the other. that's the typical life of an american in new york city. ironically, there were also crazy caucasian teens who enjoyed making a nuisance out of themselves in public arena. i despised them & there's a reason for it. nonetheless, manhattan is indeed a bustling city.

Orlando & Miami

came back from the states last sunday and it has been a very hectic week for me since then. generally, my eastern usa holiday was extremely eventful. hubby and i visited orlando, miami, buffalo and new york city. also, we drove up to toronto, ontario at canada. the weather at each states and cities varied and we got the opportunity to learn their culture.

on the flipside of it, i had a few bad encounters with weird passengers on board my flights. i also had a tough time accomodating the usa way of living. (i wonder how hubby adapts himself to the culture in arizona) anyway, the food sucks & their transportation system (subway) is just crazy. i shall elaborate them as i blog along.

i'm glad i am still alive.

almost met an accident early this morning. woke up 4.50am to chauffeur my parents to the airport for their tibet holiday. i didn't really had a good sleep before that as i wasn't feeling well. as such, on my journey home from airport, i struggled really hard to keep myself awake. unfortunately, i failed to do so. at one point, i really dozed off while still having my right foot on the accelerator. i ended up drifting from second lane to the first lane and was about an inch before the side of the car attempt to "kiss" the barrier. i was fortunate enough to be woken up by the noise created by the branches when they brushed against my door.

visited paul to snip off my long hair before meeting ruwei & friends on Saturday. i went home for "dinner" & met up with ting, nono & xiang for pubbing session. still feeling kinda tired, hence i hit the sack after sending them back home safely.

here comes sunday, almost stay rooted in front of the mirror the whole of today. hmmm, feeling abit unsatisfied.

i'll be leaving for states again in less than 30 days & i'm looking forward to meeting hubby again. it has been so long since we last met. i wonder if he is now tougher, skinnier or has he became emotionally diverted??? loads of uncertainties. however, as far as our relationship is concerned, i have absolute confidence in him & myself. ^_^

further to the itinerary draft which hubby had kindly came up with, i've finally put some touch-ups on the new york & canada itinerary. thanks to shireen for her helpful input! =) now is hubby's turn to showcase his strength on the planning of driving routes & directions for florida & canada. -_-" ohoh! i've also bought myself a new set of bikini specially for my miami trip in florida! wahaha... so excited! >_<

likewise, it has became a tradition for me to trim my hair before any overseas trip. i'm kinda tired of my long straight hair.. thinking of a change... any ideas??

11 may 2007, was one of my happiest birthday ever... =)

although for the first time hubby was not around in singapore to celebrate this day with me, i received many well wishes and pressies from family and friends! it has been so long since i received so many birthday presents.. (the last time was on my 21st!!) i really appreciate all the surprises and gifts. you guys have been really thoughtful! =)

received a lovely gift from ruwei when i first step into office on monday morning. according to her, she had "visions" or "images" of me during her church session on sunday. it seems that God wanted her to do something for me. i believe this is my extraordinary birthday present from God and that he has sent me an angel.

although this is not the first time i received a bible, there is this very strong feeling that it is going to reveal something to me this time. or rather, i'm gonna find some answers to my persistant doubts. God has managed to touch hubby, and i'm waiting for a chance to feel his presence (even though it has always been there) in faith... hubby's prayers were answered and soon will it be mine.

this is the sweetest bible i've ever received.....

... and i'm one step closer to knowing God.

just 4 more days to my bioinfo exams and it's 2.00am now. decided to take a break from my incessant revision...

it has been 2 weeks since i completed all my assignments for this module. i still remember that melody & shiwei asked me out for coffee when i was in the midst of finishing my last assignment. it's great catching up with them and glad to know that they are all doing fine. =)

april's birthday is on tuesday, but I have celebrated her birthday way in advance so as to avoid clashing with my "peak period" and also leaving that important day for her bf.

my birthday is also coming!!! i wonder how my birthday will be like this year..... nonetheless, i have received my very first birthday of the year!!! to ensure i receive this parcel of love in time, hubby has "kiasu-ly" sent it off as early as first week of april. "thanks for the thought and i really like it so much.." <3>

tadar! i'm finally back to blog!

my schedule has been extremely hectic ever since my return from the states. working non-stop for 13 hrs have became a norm to me. unknowingly, the career-minded me have evolved to becoming a workaholic! hubby has also noticed the change in my priorities and myself. "dear, no matter how busy i am, just want to tell you that you are always on my mind".

unfortunately, the current module i'm enrolled in, is running super tight. most evenings of mine is either classes, burying myself with reports after reports or worst still, "busy bee" in office. to this end, i definitely must give credit to my mighty eye gel for supporting my several sleepless and late nights. not forgetting my "best-est companion" - lappie, even though i ever thought of replacing you with a slimmer and stylish-er notebook. =p

With more responsibilities at work and the impending exams, i reckon i'm going to be even busier. as we mature into working adults, our focus and priority changes, isn't it so? as such, i started to realise what i actually want in life and re-prioritised my objectives. now, i look at things differently and accept some things with a pinch of salt. with that, i'm no longer the slacker i used to be and i'm definitely looking forward to my eastern usa holiday this coming july!!!

here's the day which mark the first anniversary of our official marriage! a bouquet of flowers was delivered to my doorstep last evening. it was very thoughtful of hubby, even though he is unable to be physically here for me today. time will breeze by and we will be able to meet very soon. my greatest joy in this relationship lies in loving and being loved by hubby.

like a dream, i'm back home in singapore again. plane landed in changi t2 this morning, leaving hubby alone in usa again. sobs....
anyway, here's the final update on my western USA trip.

it's reali nice inside casino del sol but not so nice for casino sun.

we mapped our way around phoenix and finally got to hard rock cafe..

Arizona Expedition - Part 1

USA Trip - Feb 2007 (PART 1)

Hi peeps! Greetings from Arizona, USA!!!

it's my 5th day at Tucson & i'm having heaps of fun. at the same time, i'm doing full time housewife here! =) i shall let the pictures do the talking...

My journey begins....
bid good-bye to singapore changi airport.

several hours passed, arriving in los angeles soon. temperature outside was -58◦C & there was snow flakes or frozebite on the window... even the sky turned purplish blue...

after ~17 hrs, i finally stepped out of Los angeles international airport!! fortunately, there wasn't much of problem in immigration, transfer of luggage & catching my domestic flight.

after a total of ~20 hrs of travelling, i successfully reach tucson international airport!!! & hubby waited for me right in front of the arrival hall with my luggage. it's super freezing cold the moment we walked out of the airport & water vapour escaped through my breath whenever i tried to speak.....

the very next day, we drove up to mount lemmon! hee... my little snowman....

USA, Here i Come!

I will be leaving for USA in less than 24 hours time. this is the day i've been anticipating for, but yet there is this weird mixed of excitement & uncertainness in me. no doubt, i'm glad to be able to celebrate v-day and cny with hubby in the states, however, i'd have to challenge my first attempt of travelling alone to the other end of the world and to face the complicated rules & routes of the LA airport.

besides the "enhancements" which i'm currently undergoing, alas i braved thru the brazilian wax today! i can tell u seriously, it is super blinking hell painful. while siyan made it thru calmly and quietly, i was screaming my lungs out throughout the session & created a stir outside the room. i hope i have not frightened the customers away.. kuakuakua...

yay! exams finally over! i would say i'm more prepared for this paper after having learnt from my previous experience. my last paper was a disaster, & i'm still waiting for miracle to happen. thank god, for blessing me with very very helpful & non-selfish friends, who are always willing to share.

guess what?! i'll be spending this year's chinese new year in the states!!! hubby & i will be having our reunion dinner at arizona! this decision was rather prompt, and the ideal flight which i wanted was fully booked!! argh... nevertheless, i still managed book a flight to transit via narita airport. yes! i'm passing by tokyo!!! heh heh... this is going to be a super long flight.

Haven't had the time to blog. Been trying to manage my feelings and cope with stress. it's the new year! a new beginning for both hubby & me! time to sum up my year 2006. here's my annual report:

generally, my year 2006 was extremely great! a year of excitment! beginning of the year, we received the keys to our home sweet home. then, i was blissfully engaged to hubby. we travelled to Taipei, Hong Kong and Bintan. also, i started my degree program and hubby went australia for work. had a memorable christmas celebration at fullerton and soon after, hubby left for the states.

Good-bye year 2006 and may the year 2007 be as great and exciting or even better!

hubby left for usa today.

i could have left together with hubby. everyone seems to wonder the reason why i chose not to go.

last year, when hubby broke the news to my emotional mum that i will be leaving with him to the states for 2 years. mummy became extremely upset (in a very irritating manner), and my dad came to me, begging me not to go and hope that i could be a good girl for once. at that instance, i was in a dilemma. following several sleepless nights, i tried means and ways to avoid that clueless question, ignoring the fact that this day was nearing. soon, i knew i had to made a decision, i was in a very difficult position. it's either i break my parents' heart by leaving them for 2 years or i let hubby go. in the end, i'm so bad, i made a heart-wrenching decision by letting hubby go alone to usa. yes, i cruelly broke sweetie hubby's heart. i even made up the sudden decision to further my studies, hoping that time will pass faster. i also lied to myself that i wanted more time with my parents before my customary marriage. no doubt, we will be financially very stable when hubby is back. however, with that, i thought i had convinced myself that this will work out fine and we will be mentally & physically prepared. never did i expect, i have been tearing since last night and it really hurts me so much the instance i saw hubby's tears flowing down his cheeks in front of the departure terminal. it breaks my heart further the moment i left.. seeing hubby's image diminishing from the rear mirror... now, i started to regret that painful decision which i've made and i detest my parents' selfish intentions and i hate myself for being so not firm enough.

i'm missing hubby... i really can't wait to see him in person again.

i feel so so soooo fortunate.... still indulging in my sweet jolly christmas surprises that hubby had kindly arranged for both of us. something definitely worth praising him for, he has became more romantic and sweet! this christmas, we wanted to spend some quality time together. hence, we were at fullerton hotel on christmas eve! my sweetie hubby has pre-arranged for a night stay in their straits club and enjoyed the in-room christmas dinner!

Hubby is back from aussie!!! we had a "mini welcome gathering" for hubby last friday! all of us missed his presence, especially me of course. the days without him are really "du ri ru nian". although i've more time for my studies, having him by my side is indeed consoling and i feel more motivated too.

While the guys were force-feeding themselves with liquors, and few were gambling their lives away. we, ladies here are busy with our cameras.....

felt extremely sinful that night as i slept ard 4 plus and didn't have time for my tutorial and test revision. thus, i woke up extremely early on saturday hoping to ease my guilt. however, don't think it helps in anyway. i was at balestier road on saturday evening, had bak ku teh with hubby's friends and proceeded for intensive ktv session at party world.

hubby will only be around for another 2 weeks, afterwhich he will be leaving for usa. i've planned to visit him at least two times next yr, although one of which will be from our own out-of-pockets expenses. it's all worth it, at least i get to see him and experience our stay in the states together. as hubby will not be around to count down the arrival of year 2007 with me, he has crafted out a surprise for me! i'm anticipating with glee..... =)

was in town with siyan and ting last sat. had another round of retail therapy. haha.. didn't manage to get anything for myself thou, merely collected my ck top which i sent for alteration the other day. all my purchases made were for friends' birthdays and x'mas surprises... still, there are x'mas pressies for friends and colleagues which i've yet to find time to shop for. had gossips, giggles over our dinner at the coffee club express. afterwhich, we headed to my place to house the many shopping bags and drives the car out for our pubbing session!

was in town doing shopping with sandra on saturday. decor & lightings along the vast stretch of orchard road reminded me that xmas is round the corner & have somehow lifted the "hard" feelings in me. or rather, the retail therapy did the magic! whole orchard was bustling with sales & crowds, i managed to grab a blouse from ck boutique & some stuffs from isetan & bought some other thingy. left ard evening to meet up with pinyu & chums for ktv session! it's a superb mean of destressing.

was at jolynn's birthday celebration last night. although i thought i gonna give it a miss, but still, it reali made feel so bad when i saw jolynn's disappointed expression (via her sms). hence, i managed to put aside my revision & squeeze some time out to attend. it was a super long drive, as i'm not familiar with east coast area & we got lost in the midst of locating the chalet. *sniggers* it was extremely sweet of fuxing to throw this surprise party for jolynn & she didn't know until she arrived at the chalet! she was super touched until she cried. *sobs* haha!

from the moment i sent hubby to the airport, tears blurred my vision & i could hardly see the road in front of me. ya, i know this is dangerous driving, but i can't seem to control my emotions as we have never been apart for more than 5 days. for once, i thought to myself that 6 weeks would be a breeze. i guess i'm wrong, this is too much of a torment for me to bear. i'm missing hubby so much... hard to imagine when he leaves for the states for 2 yrs. i let out my feelings last night before bed, i guess the sudden lost of control in my emotions might be partly due to stress.. have been busy preparing for exams & hence that probably explains my unstable emotions.

i'm into the third week of hubby's absence. busy mugging lecture notes & past yr papers. rejected ktv dates & i guess i'm going to give jolynn's birthday party a miss too. (so sorry!) i reali dun have much time left for revision.. =(

well, at least i have something to look forward to... hubby & i have decided to give each other surprise pressies for xmas this yr! and i have in mind some gift ideas already!

there are so many different types of people in the world. interpersonal skills are so important, but somehow or rather, there are just some kind of people who merely ignore the existence of such. in some cases, interactions between individuals can be so infuriating that it's hardly a norm to give in to each other. seriously, when help is needed, we have kindly rendered our assistance. we don't wish for one to reciprocate, however, one should know the limit and not take things for granted. my heart just want to say: "zuo wo si bei bo eng". some things are just beyond our control. to favor one, we might cause disturbance to the other unknowingly. and this can be real frustrating.

Tadar!!! i'm back from bintan! had so much fun, even thou all of us were kinda tired at the end of the day. we tried watersports - jetski, canoeing, snorkeling and the banana boat. the most impressive one would be the heart-stopping banana boat. i was one of the first to be flung out into the sea. i tell u, this is super exciting, scary and requires alot of "kiapping power". after i crawled back to the boat, whole body slippery like fish, it was so damn difficult for my legs to "kiap" onto the boat. try it and u will know what i meant. must try!!!

another thing worth mentioning is their services - superb. *2 thumbs up* the place is also clean, people there are friendly, polite and helpful. we had transports chaffeuring us here and there.

i would definitely want to go back again! =)

it's 1.25 am now. will be leaving for bintan less than 5 hours time. just came back from the wedding dinner of johnson and sugar. although few ppl will expect the venue to be there, having had 80 over tables and delicious delicacies served have earned the "thumbs up" from most guests. (^_^)

bus accident

met with an accident on board the bus on monday evening. my doctor suspect that there may be slight fracture and referred me for x-ray. with god's blessings, my report came out to be "no fracture detected", even though my gp still insists that he could feel slight crack on my knee cap and that the x-ray has not been properly taken. (-_-") nevertheless, i returned to work despite having another 2 days mc as i thought i felt okay. after my accident, i'm glad that the reckless bus driver has been replaced and everyone can have a safer trip home now.

i'm still looking forward to my bintan get-away!!! 4 more days!!! woo hoo! =)

due to some unforeseen circumstances, not only was hubby's australia trip put forward to 24 Oct, instead of nov, he will be returning home at a much later date too. in other words, there is really not much time left for us before he leaves for the states. his damn superiors insisted that we change our dates for our bintan trip as it is too near his departure date for australia. tmd! so, we will be leaving for bintan next week instead of the super "long weekend".

experienced "purrrfect" weather over the weekend! (i love cloudy days!) did some shopping in town with hubby on saturday. it was very sweet of him to bring up that kind offer again... *smiling*

yesterday was our sports day! went roller-blading as usual, but with ting ting & jason. had lotsa fun & laughters (still giggling to myself). after which, we had dinner at cozy bay. although the food served were just mediocre, it's a nice place to chill-out afterall.

after so much waiting, here comes my time table for my upcoming semester! (finally!) most importantly, i've received the pathway overview of my whole degree programme which allow me to plan my overseas trip to the states. unfortunately, in order to finish this programme earlier than it's planned, it's quite impossible for me to visit the states during my preferred period. so sad...

i'll be back to school and be tied up with tutorials and assignments. on the other hand, hubby will be flying to australia for work in november. both of us will be so busy with our lives, there will be hardly any exclusive time left for ourselves before he leaves for the states end of this year. it's true that as we grow and mature, we have more responsibilities and sometimes we dun even have a choice. i guess this is just part and parcel of life. dun u think so?

time flies... it has been exactly a week since daddy and mummy are away in shanghai. i always feel like "maria" whenever they are happily holiday-ing away. i woke up at 4.30 am last friday to chauffeur them to the airport (sluggishly) and have been trying to spend time at home to finish up the chores during their absence. hubby and i missed mummy's yummy home-cooked food. i'll be picking them up from the airport tonight. looking forward to seeing them!!!

having said about shanghai, ting & i did our mani & pedi last weekend at this new beauty parlour located at bugis - shanghai dreams nail and face spa. overall, we were satisfied with their services & the nicely manicured nails. all thanks to charlene the manicurist cum makeup artist! =)

spa indulgence with froggy and auntie anne yesterday at Andana@Orchard Spa, located in the heart of the Orchard Road on the sixth floor of the prestigious Paragon Shopping Centre. trust me, it is truly an experience and one could simply attain total relaxation there. we were treated like royal family and did our 90-minute shiatsu and aromatherapy massage as well as enjoyed the amentities. The unlimited serving of food and beverage, hot and cold therapy pools, sauna and steam baths, reading and movie lounges, access to private rooms graces its ultimate spa treatment. With their comprehensive spa and beauty therapies, now i have every reason to look forward to my next few sessions there!

let's talk about hong kong yummy food...

we search high and low for this tau hua in lantau island. so smooth... so nice.... so cooling... (s'pore one no fight ah!)
the famous Yung Kee restaurant selling salivating roast goose! (dun consider urself been to hong kong, if u never try their roast goose) simply marvellous! *2 thumbs up*
Best dim sum!!! Tao hueng restaurant... again, we walk up and down the street looking for this famous restaurant... it was worth the time searching and waiting, bcos it simply tastes sooooo delicious..... *yummy*
wanted to try something special... so we hop into this cute little cafe.. called xiao mi feng (honey bee) hubby so cute that day... love him to bits...
had macdonald's breakfast on the 5th day. too sick and tired of dim sum... my fav hashbrown still taste so nice!

our last dessert in hong kong before we return to S'pore. i had ling zhi gui lin gao and hubby had bird nest, hasma and special in-house ice cream... *slurps*

I'm back from hong kong!!!

in general, my hong kong shopping spree trip was overall a pleasant and fruitful one. minus off the super skin-piercing scorching sun and extremely badly polluted air. imagine i almost cough out my lungs throughout my trip. basically, hubby and i visit almost all the places of interest. those must-go places like, victoria peak, ladies and temple streets, avenue of stars, harbour city, disney land, lantau island, granville road, etc. and we dare to say we have combed every part of mong kok. both my legs suffered from serious internal injuries due to too much mileage clocked. most importantly, hubby also spent his first overseas birthday in hong kong. i bought hubby a nice gucci wallet from sogo department store at causeway bay, hong kong island. we took 2oo over photos and here are just some of the best shots....

hubby's grandpa, also my grandfather-in-law, passed away last evening. it was a shocking yet not so shocking news. he suffered from lung cancer and 'enjoyed' his remaining days in a hospice. we visited him a few weeks ago and he looked terribly weak. i guess when one live to a certain age, he'd be so sick and tired of living till he craves to give up life. how saddening this is. his departure was a grief to all of us.

having said grief, i've lost another pair of shoes at my parents' place. this is my second pair of shoes lost within a year. tmd, damn pissed off... to the asshole who stole my shoes, hope her bloodly feet blistered like crazy. special thanks to hubby for his kind words of consolation for allowing me to buy more shoes!

i just had a haircut last sat! paul and i sat down to discuss how to revive my boring hairstyle. i wonder how did i contracted sensitive scalp and hair loss??!! *exasperated* anyway, i bought a rebalancing shampoo and hopefully it will curb the problem and satisfy hubby's sense of smell. *roll eyes*

just 2 more days and i'll be leaving for hong kong!! so excited... i heard the typhoon period is over. yippie ya ya yippie yippie ya.... hope this has somehow lowered hong kong's temperature.

this day marks the last birthday bash for singapore at the kallang stadium! i love national day especially when all our people come together and make this day so special!

hubby and i planned to watch the fireworks last night at esplanade. however, due to the horrendous traffic and overwhelming crowd, he was caught in a massive jam. nonethless, winnie and i managed to watch it right after our hip hop lesson and believe me or not, the spot which we happened to catch the sight of the fireworks had just the right view. it was so much better than squeezing with the crowd at esplanade. the fireworks were simply spectacular!
